Farmgate Market is now a destination on the Knox County Scenic Drive. Visit our Farm Store where local artists display there painted pumpkins, gourds and Indian corn. Buy some local honey or try some of our jams and jellies. The large old dairy barn is a sight of its own. It is filled with hundreds of pumpkins of all shapes, colors and sizes.

Giant Corn Maze

Explore our 7-acre corn maze, the largest around, designed in the shape of our farm barn and silo. With 12 hidden checkpoints to discover, finding them all wins you a prize. The maze is open seven days a week from 9 AM to 6 PM, offering a fun and challenging adventure for all visitors.

Farm Store

Our farm store features over 30 varieties of pumpkins, such as painted pumpkins, gourds, and firewood. We offer straw, corn shacks, Indian corn, popcorn, broom corn, mums, and local honey. You’ll also find apple cider, local crafts, jams and jellies, Halloween candy, canned goods, and fresh farm eggs, providing a wide selection for all your seasonal needs.

Barnyard zoo

Visit our Barnyard Zoo, where you can feed and interact with a variety of animals, including goats, chickens, ducks, pot-bellied pigs, kittens and more. It’s a fun and educational experience for all ages, providing a chance to get up close with some friendly farm animals.

Family fun park

At our farm, where the fun is large and the crowds are small, you can enjoy a wide range of activities on our farm. Pedal carts are available for all ages, and you can test your skills and win prizes at the pumpkin catapult. Our straw fort, made of over 1,000 bales, features a straw maze, the fort itself, and a giant slide. Enjoy a hay rack ride for a tour of the pumpkin patch.

History of the Farm

My family has a rich history of farming that dates back to 1872, when they first started farming south of Galva, IL. Over the years, we’ve maintained a continuous farming tradition, including on this particular farm, which has now stood for 105 years. I had the privilege of being born and raised on this land, experiencing life on a farm that operated as a dairy for nearly 70 years. Although I spent many years away from the farm, pursuing other business opportunities, I felt a deep connection to my roots. Eighteen years ago, I decided to return and help breathe new life into this cherished old farm. It’s been a rewarding journey to revive and sustain the legacy that has been a part of my family for generations.

Why start Farmgate Market?

We embarked on a journey to breathe new life into the many old buildings on our farm, including the historic dairy barn. With a vision for the next 100 years, we sought new uses for these cherished structures. My wife and I decided to establish a farmers’ market, specializing in fresh produce and goods from our farm. The old dairy barn became a perfect venue to showcase both our farm’s rich history and the products we proudly offer.

Growing pumpkins had always been a cherished memory from my childhood, so it felt natural to continue that tradition here. As we welcomed visitors, we discovered that many were fascinated by the farm’s storied past. Families often expressed a desire for a place where they could enjoy some country fun together. In response, we have been continuously adding activities over the past three years, transforming our farm into a vibrant destination where people can learn about our history and enjoy wholesome, family-friendly entertainment.

“It was a great place to spend the afternoon. Everyone there was extremely nice and the owner was fantastic! Lots of activities for little ones (straw fort with slides, pedal carts, corn maze, hayride, pumpkin slingshot). It was also very reasonably priced. I can’t say enough good things about the place. We will definitely be back next year!”
